Mr. Raoul K.
It was political asylum that took Ivory Coast Raoul Konan to Germany at the tender age of 16. He trained as a carpenter but found his real calling behind the mixing decks. He’s played at the Love Parade of Berlin and soon after invested in MK2 turntables and a mixer. Today DJ Raoul K boasts counts three albums and twenty EPs and has his own record label, Baobab. He plays in top venues around Europe and is highly favored in Japan. He hasn’t lost his African roots and is the first DJ to use the ngoni (a string instrument, equivalent to the lute) and other African traditional instruments with the rhythms of contemporary electronic music.
